About the Council
The Huntsville | Lake of Bays Sports Council is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization whose goals are to promote, educate and facilitate positive sport development.
The Council, who is also partnered with the local community sports groups and the Huntsville Public Library. Various books, videos, manuals and CD-ROMs are available to coaches, athletes and sport program administrators who wish to enhance their skills or develop new programs.
Although the Council is in its early stage of development, new ideas for future initiatives include:
- Regional Sport Leadership Summit
- Olympic athlete visits to schools and community events
- Training and education sessions for coaches and volunteers
- Joint community and school projects
- Sport resources and database development
- Website development
- Partnership projects with health, business and education
